The City of Toronto Glenn Gould Protégé Prize
In 1993, The Glenn Gould Foundation expanded The Glenn Gould Prize to include The City of Toronto Glenn Gould Protégé Prize. As part of The Glenn Gould Prize, each Laureate selects an outstanding young artist who shows the promise of an exceptional lifetime contribution to enriching the human condition through the arts to become a Protégé.
The Protégé Prize is a cash award of C$15 000 funded by The City of Toronto, the city with which Glenn Gould is so strongly identified around the world.
Protégés also receive The Glenn Gould Award, a miniature bronze sculpture of Glenn Gould created by Canadian sculptor, Ruth Abernethy. Protégés are honoured at the same time as The Glenn Gould Prize Laureates.
