On June 26, school children in Vail, Colorado USA will have the thrill of a lifetime when they team up with world famous cellist and Fifth Glenn Gould Prize Laureate (1999), Yo-Yo Ma. Ma will participate in a free-event titled "Imagination Celebration: Adventures in the Arts" at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheatre.
Known for his multi-faceted career of continuously searching for new ways to communicate with audiences, Ma will accompany second grade string and horn musicians in "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and will perform Saint-Saens "The Swan" with freshman pianist, Ktherine Bellino. Alongside flautist, Eugenia Zukerman (Artistic Director for the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival) and percussionist Mark Trevino, Ma will also accompany an original composition by Bravo! Young Composers Ben West and Jeremiah Johnston. A host of student performances will also take place, including members of Celebrate the Beat and First Notes, programs devoted to elementary school students in the respective fields of dance and music.
